Delta Junior Volleyball Rules 2021
Match Rules:
League Standings:
Coin flip - done by DSSAA President, witnessed by league coordinator
- All games are scheduled to start at 3:30pm at the host site in a side by side court arrangement, unless hosting a single game.
- Teams will default a match if they are not ready to play at 3:45 pm (coaches are expected to contact each other in advance)
- Host sites are responsible to provide all officials. This includes 2 score keepers, and 2 officials. Up and down officials need to be 'experienced' volleyball persons.
- Up officials should be adults for the junior games. For grade 8 matches, experienced senior players can officiate the match. If a school is unable to provide an adult referee for junior games senior volleyball players who are confident with the rules may be used instead. An adult is preferred
- Teams are responsible for their own line up cards for each match (host schools should not be expected to supply line up cards)
- All matches are best 3 out of 5
- Games 1-4 are to 25, win by two NO CAP.
- The 5th and deciding game is to 15 and win by two - NO CAP.
- 12 unlimited substitutions are allowed each match.
- A Libero is permitted in matches for junior teams only. Grade 8's do not play with a libero. This does not apply for playoffs. Once teams are in playoffs grade 8 boys and girls teams are permitted to play with a libero .
- Fair play: The grade 8 league, will rotate players each game. 6 NEW players must be used each game (except on a team of a roster less than 12) for games 1-4 in a match. No substitutions during games 1-4.
- In the 5th game, bench rotation restrictions are lifted as they will be in playoffs as well. No line up restrictions in any of the games during playoffs
- Each team needs a designated floor captain on the floor at all times.
- Setting a serve is permitted for all levels.
- Ball off ceiling playable - girls only. Balls striking the ceiling after 1st and 2nd contact or anything hanging from it (lights, ball hoops, ropes) is playable as long as the ball remains on the same side of the net and is directly over the court playing surface. If the ball crosses over the net after such an incident the ball will be called out. The wall and anything attached to the wall is considered out.
- GIRLS AND BOYS: No player is permitted to come into contact with any part of the net.
- All levels - teams should be using the Baden VCor ball
- NET HEIGHT:
- Grade 8 Girls - 2.15m
- Grade 8 Boys - 2.20m
- Junior Girls - 2.20m
- Junior Boys - 2.35m
- Grade 8 Girls - 2.15m
- All players and coaches are reminded to treat each student and official with respect.
- Coaches and players are also reminded to direct any questions for the Up official through the floor captain. Unwillingness to do so will result in a warning, then a yellow card which includes a 1 point penalty to be added to the opposition's score, and finally a red card which is an additional point added to the opposition and the player/coach will be asked to leave the gym.
- Failure to comply with this will result in the suspension of play and a 3-0 victory being awarded to the opposition.
League Standings:
- Teams will be awarded 1 point for each match won

- Head to head results
- Ratio of games won and lost between tied teams
- Ratio of games won and lost between all teams
